The Conversation

I had fun working on this one and it seemed to be inspired by my interest in apologetics (Christian theology that aims to present a rational basis for the Christian faith) and my current focus on Systematic Theology. We need to know what we believe, we need to know why we believe it, and we need to be able to explain it to those who do not share our views. This happens through simple conversations… opportunities that pop up here and there through normal daily life and our friendships. Relationships are the key and relationships are built and grow through conversations and meaningful interaction.

Who is sharing with whom here? Many might assume that the older man is not a christian forgetting were Jesus was born. Both sit at the edge of a well at the base of a great tree. There is an ancient bucket there with which to draw water from the well and drink. While creating this piece my thoughts were that the well is the ‘well of truth’ and the tree loosely represents the Tree of Life spoken of in Revelations. Both basically represent the truth of God, the need to share that knowledge, and the responsibility and privilege we have to ‘proclaim’ it.

I’m tired and there is much more I could write but I am going to leave this as is… hope you enjoy it.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17

“…but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
